Holmes’ Humidifer – Yes, Please!

It’s funny how life works. I never knew what a humidifier was as a child. The tried and true way of decongesting a child who couldn’t breathe was a steamy bathroom. As a Mom of two in this day and age, I can honestly say we would have had to renovate the bathroom by now, if I truly used it everytime the children were stuffy or suffered from croup.

Through out the last 12 years, I have purchased many, many different types of humidifiers and vaporizers. The vaporizers were just too hot, I live in Florida and the last thing you want is more heat in the house. The first couple of humidifiers I bought, required a filter that would absolutely disgust me when I had to clean them. They were gunky and brown and it just would drive me crazy thinking that I was most probably circulating that through the room along with humidified air.

Several years ago, I noticed in a Target flyer, a humidifier by Holmes
that was shaped like a cube.

I loved that there were many different colors and they didn’t stick out like a sore thumb. I decided to head on over and check them out. The price was right at the time and the biggest draw for me was that they did not require a filter. My dreams of not having to clean one of those again was fulfilled. What can I say, I don’t always dream big.

The clean up on the system is super easy and the light hum was the best bonus ever. Some of my old humidifiers were so noisy, I felt like they were preparing for take-off.

The only thing that I wish was different is the on-off switch is lit and it is a pretty strong light. One of my children has to sleep in complete darkness, so the light was a distraction and everytime she needs to use it, it’s a battle.

In conclusion, I would buy this product again, in a heartbeat. Nice looking, no filter and quiet. I really can’t ask for more from a humidifier.

Photography Challenge #6 – Artistic: Candy

Challenge #6: Your artistic interpretation this week should be inspired by something sweet. A great chance to play with macro photography.

Wow, so I waited sooooo long to find this pic. I tried everything and for some reason, I just couldn’t find a creative way to present candy.

Recently, I went on an audition and there were peppermint candy dishes, I instantly thought, I’m going to be up in somebody’s face. Needless to say, I totally took a pic of my favorite peppermint candy.

This is another venture away from my Nikon D3200. For this picture, I picked up my iPhone 6 Plus.

Here it is, enjoy!

Photography Challenge #4: Headshot

Week 4:  You shot a selfie, shoot a “selfie” of someone else!

Pretty simple and pretty straight forward. January has not disappointed, as every year it continues to get more and more hectic.  I found myself scrambling for a subject and decided why not photograph, Bella, my beagle and all day companion. I used my Nikon D3200 and continue to get familiar with
Photoshop Elements.

In Florida, we have been enjoying some beautiful weather and on this day, Bella just wanted to sit outside in the sun. I love that the picture caught that she was slightly aggravated by me and the camera.

Enjoy!

Photography Challenge #3 – Red

Third week, third challenge: Shoot whatever inspires you. Red should be the focus of the image. Don’t be afraid to be creative.

I had so many cool and creative ideas running through my mind. Some were grand and others were so imaginitive, I honestly didn’t know how I could photograph them. I have also added a limitation to the challenge as I want to only use my DSLR Camera. Because it is much bulkier than my iPhone, I find it harder to travel with it; I’ve also had friends had their cameras lifted from their cars because of the resale value of them.

As I was driving into my garage, I saw my little berry bushes and decided, I must shoot these up close.

So here it is:

Challenge #3

Hope you enjoy, every week is more challenging and I’m loving every minute of it.

Photography Challenge #2 – Landscape

Second week, second challenge. The instructions were a tradional landscape. Shoot a landscape and share it with the world. Find a nice foreground and don’t forget the sky.

Instantly, I started to panic; Landscape? I have no idea where to go! I took a breath and reminded myself that the challenge is to challenge myself. I found a nature preserve nearby and took the photograph below:

Challenge #2

I was sitting down on the ground for this one, so that I could get a different perspective. I was able to get more of the sky through the trees. I didn’t find an interesting foreground, which of course drove the OCD of following directions in me, crazy. As a photographer, I would love to actually see beams of light shining down through the trees, all in time.

Hope you enjoy,

Chinese Take Out Food Craving

What can I say, I absolutely love Chinese take out food.

I love the faded out pictures of the super quick food.

I love how there is also no true acknowledgement of other customers in the restaurant. A quick look up at you and then right back down to your phone.

I love the super ornate faux marble counters and large mirror. The door is usually propped open so you can hear the shoppers pounding the pavement of the strip mall and the cars humming by.

Some days it is exactly what the soul needs. It doesn’t even bother you that an hour after eating your favorite item from the menu, you are hungry again.

You are content.

Star Wars Love

The date is getting closer and just like anyone who knows what they are doing, marketing wise, we have been fed little nuggets throughout. Our mouths are drooling with anticipation.

Will these be better than the originals?
Will it live up to the hype?
Will some of are old friends be back, so we feel like we are home again, or in my case, a kid again?

Whatever may happen in November, it’s no surprise that when the new merchandise was released, the crowds went wild.

Here is a wonderful sampling of what is out there in anticipation of the new Star Wars.  I am not going to be the one out there at midnight or even opening weekend. I save that for those who are marking everyday off on their calendar, I’ll be at a matinee showing a week or two later, with my bucket of popcorn and who knows, I might style my hair a la Princess Leia.

I’m hoping my son gets some of these for Christmas. He has a deal with me, all Star Wars items must be surrendered to me after he is done with them.

May the Force be with you.
